The Fireman’s SOUR

This weeks cocktail was the Fireman’s Sour!

2 oz White Rum
1 oz Lime Juice
½ oz Grenadine
½ Egg White

Add all your ingredients and shake with a good quantity of ice. Open your tins and strain your cocktail into the empty half. You should have one part with your cocktail and the other part full of the ice.
Discard all the ice and shake again with just the liquid (known as a dry shake). The dry shake really helps the foam and silky texture to develop.

Strain your drink into a rocks glass over a chunk of ice.
It looks the business, but is it style over substance?

Basically it’s a foamy daiquiri, the grenadine adds and impressive colour but does nothing for the flavour. The egg white gives it a nice feel but to be honest if I want a rumy-limey beverage then more than likely I’ll skip this and just have a classic Daiquiri or even something like the Greta Garbo from a few weeks ago!
