Inside the Cabinet

The Poisoners' Cabinet podcast launched in 2020 when hosts and besties Nick & Sinead had one too many cocktails and decided the world needed to know more about history's greatest prisoners and weird criminals. And to keep drinking cocktails.

The weekly podcast specialises in historical true crime cases, delving into the archives to find weird tales of famous and forgotten criminals. Poisoners are our passion but we also uncover crimes by vicious Victorian, gruesome Georgians, terrible Tudors, sly Stewarts, ridiculous Romans and everything in between.

But you can't have a story without a cocktail in hand... As part of every episode, master mixologist Nick shakes up a cocktail featuring a secret ingredient inspired by that week’s story for a blind taste test on air. The results are all shared with listeners so they can shake up a storm at home.

The podcast has more than 1 million downloads and more than 200 episodes. Listeners are predominantly split between the USA and UK, with fanbases dotted across Europe, Australia and South Africa. Hosts Nick and Sinead are based in Kent, England.

Past episodes include Mary Ann Cotton, Aqua Tofana, Dr. Crippen, the Arsenic Act, the evils of Absinthe, toxic wallpaper, Locusta, Lizzie Borden and Lucrezia Borgia.

The show has more than 70,000 followers on TikTok, where Sinead delivers bite-sized version of the stories on the show. Extra weekly episodes and bonus content are also created for the show’s 500+ paying Patreon subscribers.

The show is produced by Sinead and Nick, with the hosts alternating episode writing duties each week. The show is distributed by Acast.
