Left Hand

You really need the chocolate bitters with this one, without it’s a disappointing Boulevardier, with it’s a revelation of loveliness!

1½ oz Bourbon

¾ oz Campari

¾ oz Sweet Vermouth

2 dashes Chocolate Bitters

Get everything into a mixing glass and stir until you can stir no more, then strain into something suitably fancy.

To begin with I hadn’t added enough of the chocolate & it was all a bit dull. But adding a few more drops brought the whole thing to life.

It’s amazing the difference bitters can make, taking a mediocre drink to something very splendid. I have even brought the bitters away on holiday so we can have a Left Hand or two on our Suffolk adventures.

Make it if you can, though I get chocolate bitters aren’t a staple in everyone’s cupboard (get a bottle if you can!).
