Archibald’s Last Memory

After one of these you can be sure that Archibald’s last memory was a blurry one, you’ll know if you’ve listened to the episode that I lost the ability to speak half way through thanks to this drink. It’s great, but god it packs a punch!

2 oz Rye
½ oz Fernet
½ oz Benedictine
⅙ oz Maraschino Cherry

Give everything a good stir with plenty of ice and strain into a rocks glass with a nice chunk of ice. The original calls for this to be served straight up, no ice in your glass just chilled from the stirring, that sounds incredibly dangerous to me, personally I think a drink like this benefits for the extra dilution you’ll get with a chunk of ice in the glass, and do use a single large cube if you can it’ll melt slower that lots of smaller cubes, getting the dilution right is a fine balance!

This was very much a Nick style brown drink, but Sinead still managed to knock it back in short order too and I think at various points in the recording both of us lost the use of our faces.
