Into The Woods

Well, this was a bit disappointing, such promise , such lovely ingredients but it’s all a bit meh

1 ½ oz Bourbon

2 oz Cider

2 oz Ginger Beer

3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Chuck everything into a glass, mix with ice and squeeze a lemon wedge into the glass.

This should work, all these lovely warming autumnal flavours should work perfectly with each other but somehow they just cancel each other out into a bland nothingyness, or maybe mine & Sinead’s palates are so jaded with years of cocktails that we just can’t tell anymore!

In an effort to liven things up a bit I spied the Ancho Reyes chili liqueur sitting in the cupboard and a dash of that certainly gave a warming kick at the end but as Sinead says it does also add a not entirely welcome vegetablyness to the drink.

Sinead then came up with a much better idea and found the Ginger Liqueur that I had completely forgotten about. This was an excellent idea and would definitely recommend adding ½ oz of the Kings Ginger to really liven it up!
