arsenic & old Lace

The cocktail that sent the latest episode insane.

First appearing in 1817 with the strange name The Attention, the cocktail was rechristened the much more charming Arsenic & Old Lace. This probably happened in the late 1940’s after the Cary Grant film of the same name came out.

To make you will need:

2 oz Gin

½ oz Dry Vermouth

¼ oz Creme de Violette

¼ oz Absinthe

2 Dashes Orange Bitters

Everything into a large mixing glass and top up with ice.

This benefits from a long stir to get a good level of dilution and to get it super cold. Strain into a chilled glass and enjoy, but beware these are strong!
