Sazerac
Oh it’s so good!!
The absolute classic that is the Sazerac. Some say the original American cocktail so what else could we have when listening to a little jazz.
⅓ oz Absinthe
2 oz Water
1 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz Bourbon
⅓ oz Sugar Syrup
3 dashes Peychauds Bitters
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Add the absinthe and water to an ice filled tumbler and set to one side.
Add the rest of the ingredients to one half of your shaker and fill with ice. Use a strainer to keep the ice in place and pour your drink from one tin to the other. Try to get a bit of height between the tins, the idea is your trying to get a bit of air into the drink, but not over dilute like you would with shaking.
Once you’ve thrown your drink 2-3 times it should be ready to go. Take your absinthe/water/ice filled tumbler and strain into a chilled shot glass to serve along side. Strain your Sazerac into you now chilled & absinthe soaked glass.
This is a fantastic drink, the absinthe not too over powering and the whiskey/bourbon nicely mellowed by the sugar and biters. You really should go make one!
